The mindset that you will need to first obtain is that it is a business and it is your responsibility to treat it as one, if you do not treat your business as a business; who will? When I have people approach me about becoming a business owner online that can make money with internet marketing, one of the firs questions I ask them is “why?” I need to understand why they want to start internet marketing and what lead them to this decision. With me knowing their “why” I can help them more with options or ideas on how to move forward. If you are unsure of your “why” then stop reading right now and wait until you fully understand your reason for this adventure.

Step 2 Involves Partnering With a Mentor

If you have never done any type of internet marketing and are wondering what your first steps are and how to go about setting everything up, you need a mentor and a system. Finding the right mentor and system will dramatically enhance your chance of success in the internet marketing industry. When you are looking at mentors and systems and comparing their strengths and weaknesses; I would recommend looking for a mentor that has success but also be available to help. I have watched many people join a mentor but never even spoke to them, and barely knew their name; you want a mentor that is available to answer questions, give feedback (good and bad), and provide training to their team. Once you have found a good mentor look at their system, what are they using or doing on a daily basis to be successful? Do you have the ability to imitate them?

Use Low Cost and Free Online Marketing Tools

There are many low cost and free online marketing tools that are available to everyone and anyone online; you just have to be willing to put in some extra work to use these tools. These low cost and free online marketing tools consist of blogs, article submission sites, video marketing, email campaigns, social media and forums. These tools are real easy to start and maintain but as I stated before you need to treat your business as a business, you need to have a maintenance system for these. I use a daily method of operation that allows me to plan out my day and by every hour of the day I know what I am doing. One hour I write and submit articles, one hour I work on my blog, another how I may read out of a leadership book and another hour I may watch a how to video on a topic in my business.

Building Your Business One Video, Article Or Blog Post

I am the first to tell you that many of the sites or ads that you see, screaming the “pie in the sky” in 30 days is a pipe dream. If you are a serious and want to learn how to make money with internet marketing, you need to build a business that you still expect to have years down the road. Building the proper foundation and building upon it day after day is what will allow you to be prosperous in your business and allow you to make money with internet marketing. I talk to many people that start in this industry and send out one or two articles, videos or emails and see nothing happen and they give up; which is not they need to do. Look at many businesses that have been and continue to be successful, look at McDonald’s, did they just advertise their business one time, sell one hamburger, open one location? No, they did not, they kept advertising, they kept selling more burgers and they kept opening more locations, they kept building and building on their previous efforts. Same with internet marketing, keep writing articles, keep blogging, keep making videos, keep promoting your offer however you are and don’t stop; you will fail only when you give up!
